Salmon
Fishing Rod by St Croix
When
it comes to a salmon fishing rod, individuality
is key to your selection. St Croix has 3 different models/series
to meet your specific needs to catching salmon. Whether
you want to catch them in the ocean, great lakes, or
streams you will find the power and sensitivity you
require.
What
I am beginning to see a lot when we are out fishing
for salmon is that longer rods are the norm. Back in
the 80's most of us used a 8'6" rod, but now many
of us have started using 10'+ rods. One of the
biggest reasons I switched is, "I get tennis elbow
when I am wrestling big salmon and going with a longer
salmon fishing rod helps take the pressure off my elbow.
There
is no doubt if you land a big salmon with the standard
rods and then get lucky enough to land another big salmon
using something like the St Croix WS106MMF2 10'6"
salmon rod, you'll feel the difference and never go
back. The ease, the sensitivity, the feel, the
power........it just makes sense to purchase your next
salmon fishing rod from a company that still builds
them in the US.
Follow
along as we take you through the full lineup of salmon
fishing rod by St Croix.

Triump
Series
You
have 6 options in this class from 8'6" to 9' and
the beauty is these rods are the cheapest you will read
below running $100. Chose from 4 different spinning
rods and 2 different casting rods. This rod uses
the same premium SCII graphite as the other rods to
give you great strength, sensitivity and powerful hook
sets. They use aluminum oxide guides, Fuji reel
seat and premium cork handles. They use two coats
of Flex coat with a slow cure to protect the rod. This
salmon fishing rod comes with a 5 year warranty.
Wild
River Series:
The
Wild River Series was exclusively designed for
salmon and steelhead fisherman. The Wild River uses
a premium graphine, Baston guides, Fuji reel set, premium
cork handles, and two coats of flex coat to cure the
finish slowly. This gives the Wild River Series
outstanding strength, sensitivity and powerful hook
sets. This rod comes with a 5 year warranty. The
prices for these rods are very reasonably priced compared
to the others.
Just

and suggested retail price. If you shop right,
you can pick up these salmon fishing rods a lot cheaper.

As
I mentioned these are only their spinning series. The
casting rods start at 8' and end at 10'6". You
can get them from medium light, to extra heavy.
Legend
Elite
The
Legend Elite series combines the best graphites, the
best guides, the best reel sets and everything else
you can imagine to make it one of the lightest and strongest
and most sensitive salmon rod on the market. They
use both the IPC and ART techology which they patented.
These
rods ROCK. With all these features expect to pay
in the $380+ range. Trust me, once you try one,
you'll never want to pick up your rod again.
This
rod combines the IPC & ART technology to give you
19 different salmon fishing options in sizes from 8'6"
to 9'6" and you can chose between spinning and
casting rods. The rod I used was the LES96MHF2.
Avid
Series
for salmon and steelhead
These
rods use the same graphite, guides, etc as the Wild
River series. The big difference is they use their patented
integrated Poly Curve technology that gives this salmon
fishing rod the feeling of picking up a feather. These
rods are extremly light, super sensitive and a ton of
strength. These rods come with a limited lifetime
warranty.
Expect
to pay in the $200+ range for your Avid salmon fishing
rod.
These
outlets carry salmon fishing rods by St Croix: Tackle
Ddirect, Cabela's, Bass Pro and Amazon to name a few.
Be sure to check with your local shops because they
probably carry these salmon rods and many others. Make
sure and place a reel on your rod to get maximum feel
before you purchase your next salmon rod. It's also
a good idea to compare all the other rods with a reel
as well.
